Christ Community Church

We are a Christian church in Mira Mesa, San Diego, trying to grow in our love for God and each other

Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision

To become a biblically functioning community of followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

To reach everyone with the Gospel and lead them to becoming fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our Daily Focus

WORSHIP - We seek to glorify God through worshipping Him and Him alone, individually and corporately.

CONNECT - We seek to build God honoring, biblically grounded relationships with others within our church and local community.

SERVE - We seek to serve God by giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our time and resources as we partner with Him in serving others within our church, community and world.

GROW - We seek to develop mature, fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.

REACH - We seek to reach our community for Christ by reflecting His nature, inviting others to join us, and by preparing to give an answer for why we believe.

our values

  • The Bible is the supreme authority in the life of every believer.
  • Lost people matter to God, therefore, they matter to us.
  • Teaching and programming must remain doctrinally pure, while being culturally relevant and life transforming.
  • Excellence honors God and inspires people.
  • We love everyone and are inclusive of all people, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomics, past religious experiences, or depth of their relationship with God.
  • Full devotion to God is normal for all believers; anything less is not full devotion.
  • Believers are gifted by God to do work within the church and should serve in their area of spiritual giftedness; men and women are equally gifted to serve.
  • Accountability within Christian fellowship is necessary for every believer to grow in their relationship with the Lord.

Our Affiliation

CCC was planted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 1987 and joined the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 1998. CCC became an independent community church in 2001, when we join the Willow Creek Association, an association of churches from around the world seeking to make the church relevant to our society.

Our History

CCC was planted in the community of Scripps Ranch in 1987 by Pastor Phil Hester. Our original name was Northstar Community Church, which was changed to Christ Community Church of San Diego in 2003. Originally, the church met in Pastor Phil's home, was moved to Jerabeck Elementary School, then Miramar Ranch Elementary School. In 1999, Pastor Phil relocated to teach church planting at the seminary level in Georgia.

Pastor Darrell Dunlap was called as our senior pastor in September 2000. The church moved to the Scripps Ranch Library community room on Scripps Lake Blvd in 2001 and then over to Miramar College in Mira Mesa in November 2002. We met at Miramar College, utilizing classrooms, lecture halls, and the large outdoor patio until October 2010 when we moved into our current facility on Kearny Mesa Road in Mira Mesa, one block north of Miramar Road.
